In the beginning...

ducks55aerial was originally setup in summer of 2018 to specialise solely in the manufacture and supply of aerial silks, providing both solid colour and pattern dyed silks, all manufactured here in the UK with an emphasis on safety while providing creativity for silks routines.

then in 2023, we created 'The Studio'...

In the summer of 2023 we built a custom aerial studio with 5 rigging points, ranging from 6.5 to 8.5m in height, with a mixed of direct 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 rope rigging we can provide a wide range of bounce in our rigging to provide cushioning for more advanced dynamic moves together with the ability to offer performer flying, it also means that all our points are fully rigged for rescue.

Set in the heart of rural Lincolnshire in the hamlet of Friskney, the studio is designed to offer a range of private lesson and small workshops in all things aerial but with particular focus on silks which is the founders passion.

The studio has a wide range of mats including extra deep 60cm crash mats and fall sacks for the most extreme dynamic catch and release moves together with a fully sprung floor throughout the studio which can also support stilt walking and ballet.

so who is ducks55??

The founder and principle instructor here at ducks55 is Adam Osborn, Adam's journey into the world of aerial started a little under 10 years ago, first starting as self taught practice in Yoga Hammock at home as a way to loose weight, starting at around 19stone the support of the hammock played a vital role in allowing him to gain strength and flexibility while protecting his body over the course of the next 12months Adam managed to loose a significant amount of weight and with the confidence gained he decided to look around to see if there was anywhere local to look at training Aerial.

While at that point being in his mid thirties, male and with no previous sporting or previous dance experience, he didn't hold out much hope especially living in Lincolnshire, however he found a local, well Lincolnshire style of local, it being 1hr away by car, lady called Emma who ran an aerial and pole studio in Louth called Freestyle Alternative Dance and Fitness, he originally starting with private lessons on a Friday night, something he kept up for many a year all the way until COVID, however one lesson a week was not enough by far and Adam fast became a daily fixture at the club and within a year was training 5-6days a week with an 1.5hr of daily stretching at home.

Aerial fast became a huge part of his life and lead onto competing and instructing, gaining certification as an instructor trough XPole. Competing also lead to one of Adams other huge passions now which is ballet, originally started as a way of learning how to pointe his toes for competing Adam went onto learn how to dance en Pointe with Sue McGough Performing Arts in Hogsthorpe until her retirement and he now continues to learn under his trusty pointe shoe fitter and friend Sheila.

During this entire period unlike many aerialist his sole practice was geared towards Silks, Adam figured starting so late in life he really needed to place all his focus on trying to master one piece of equipment and this is why the specialism of ducks55 is focused on aerial silks; Adam went on to compete in the UK Aerial Performance Championships and has twice won both the Instructor Silks and Overall Instructor Titles together with placing in other competitions.

Adam's routine's have always sought to push boundaries, either through the inclusion of Catch and Release moves or big dynamic drops or through novel costume and themes which has seen Adam complete routines, in this pyjamas during the heat of August, in a Trench coat while wearing a Trilby, including taking the jacket off juring a drop but keeping the hat on! and most recently complete a whole routine on silks while wearing pointe shoes including dance en pointe.

Adams innovations have also seen the first double silks doubles routine, where two sets of silks where rigged together while preserving independent movement also preformed while wearing zentai suits, and numerous themed silks, from dyed silks to silks sets with an entirely accurate star constellations printed the length of the silks and even a set with feather cut ends to mimic swan wings.

Now with the studio Adam offers a range of small group sized classes and workshops together with private 1:1 sessions specialising in silks and movements for routines, he also offers a wide range of aerial including Silks, Hammock, Sling, Strops, Chains, Rope, Multicord Curtain, Multicord Hoop, Hoop, Flying Pole, Performer Flying and more such as stilt walking and balloon tying.
